Submissions

The Cackling Kettle is a hand-bound literary magazine produced by Lady Book Witch Press. Although we are not a themed magazine, we are interested in pieces that explore nature, witchcraft, feminism, farming, community, LGBTQIA+ perspectives, and all things Wild. We value work that is daring and different and adore genre-bending works. It’s also worth noting that we nominate for the Pushcart Prize.

Currently, we accept poetry, short stories (2,500 words max), personal essays, and works of visual art. Please submit up to five pieces to ladybookwitch@gmail.com with “cackling kettle submissions” as your subject, along with a brief third-person bio, your instagram handle, and your mailing address. Images should be sent as PDFs and written work should be sent as word documents or google doc files.

Work must be previously unpublished, though self-published is fine. Simultaneous submissions are also acceptable, but please let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere. Writers who are selected for publication will receive two contributor copies as payment. We reserve the right to include published pieces in future anthologies. Due to our limited shipping budget, we are no longer able to publish international work, unless the contributor is willing to pay for international shipping, which can be discussed on a case-by-case basis.

Currently, we accept submission on a rolling basis. We try our best to print two issues per year — one in the summer and one in the winter — but as a small press, we sometimes only produce one. Please consider purchasing one of our back issues to support this magazine!
