Interested in what it means to craft a material poem, Lady Book Witch Press publications explore the intersections of witchcraft, poetry, and bookbinding while drawing on feminist and pagan values. Known for our visual vocabulary based on quilting, embroidery, weaving, and collaged ephemera, we pride ourselves in creating dark and whimsical books that simultaneously soothe and unsettle readers. In addition to poetry books, we publish a biannual literary magazine, The Cackling Kettle, as well as a series of how-to witchcraft books. These Tiny Spells Witchery books combine the charm of handmade books and original art with the expertise of practicing witches in the local community. As an independent publisher, we prioritize making space for genre-bending, multimedia works that may otherwise be overlooked by traditional publishers.
Nora Boyle is a bookbinder, poet, beekeeper, and witch who consumes coffee by the cauldron-full. She is also the founder of Lady Book Witch Press. As a poet and witch, there are few things more satisfying than navigating and negotiating the overlay of material and literary symbolism in book form. In addition to Lady Book Witch Press publications, Nora’s poetry has been published by Folklore for Resistance, Capsule Stories Magazine, NERVE, Free Verse Revolution, Paper & Ink, Broken Spells Zine, Querencia Press, and Folktales Literary Journal. Nora also teaches bookbinding classes in Durham, NC and dabbles in letterpress printing. You can see more of her work on instagram @ladybookwitch.
